1 American League fees include $20 Tryout Fee (Non-refundable) and
$10 League Upgrade (refunded if not placed in this league)
2 Traveling Teams have additional fees and volunteer requirements
3 The additional Late Fees are present to encourage parents and players to register during the regular registration period in order to reduce the work load on the league volunteers after team formation, when efforts have shifted to coaching and preparing for the season games and tournaments.  (No additional charges are being charges to players in the 7 year old league because we want to allow word of mouth communication to "trickle down" to the newer families in the program, and that we expect that older players, being more familiar with the program, should have had ample opportunity to register during the official registration period.)

If your child is registering for the American (AL) or Traveling League, please take time to review the Parent/Player Commitment Form. You and your child will be asked to sign this document at registration.

For ALL registrations, we will be collecting Volunteer (Concession Stand) deposit checks.  A separate check for $100 for volunteer hours is required for each player. Failure to include this deposit check will result in you child's registration being held up until the check is provided.  This check will only be cashed should the volunteer requirement not be met, therefore this needs to be a separate check.  The volunteer requirement is met by working at the concession stand or other requests during games and tournaments.

American League and Traveling players must register in person

Summer Birthday Policy

While in general players are not allowed to play up within the age leagues, in the house leagues (non-traveling), we will allow players to play with other players in their grade - so that they can play with their friends.  This means that:

  • 7 year olds are any player currently finishing 1st grade
  • 8 year olds are any player currently finishing 2nd grade
  • 9 year olds are any player currently finishing 3rd grade
  • 10 year olds are any player currently finishing 4th grade
  • 11 year olds are any player currently finishing 5th grade
  • 12 year olds are any player currently finishing 6th grade

Players that have been held back in school will be expected to play by age.

6 year olds (players currently finishing kindergarten) are allowed to play in the 7 year old league, if they are though to be mature enough (physically and mentally), however they will be expected to play in the 7 year old league again the following year; 7 year olds (currently finishing 1st grade) are not allowed to play in the 8 year old league even in they did play in the 7 year old league the year before.

Traveling leagues need to be addressed on a case by case basis, as BPAA is not in complete control of the age rules for the leagues in which these teams participate.

Team Formation Policies

Team Formation information is found in the BPBA Team Formation Policy found on the Rules webpage.

To call out a few things

  • If your child is registering for the National League (NL) and wants to play with a friend, both players must list each other on the registration form. Only those who have listed each other are guaranteed to be on the same team and players may only list one friend and that friend must also list them. For example, Bobby lists Jimmy and Jimmy lists Bobby. Bobby and Jimmy will be placed on the same NL team.

  • You may request that your child NOT be placed on a particular coach’s team, but you cannot request to be ON a particular coach’s team.

  • Because of the draft process for American and Traveling League teams, no preferences are allowed.

Questions you don't see answered here?

Come ask them in person at one of the registration dates or a monthly association meeting.  As volunteers for baseball and other sports and community organizations, the leaders of Brooklyn Park Baseball are not able to address every issue e-mailed to them outside of these meetings.  Face to face, interactive discussions provide for a much better understanding of all side of an issue and also therefore better resolution of most issues.
